Private Merswimming Lessons

Merswimming is swimming with a mertail shaped monofin like a mermaid, merman or siren (alternative mermaid).

In some locations our instructors run private merswimming lessons in the child's own swimming pool (including at apartment buildings & gated communities), or hire a swimming pool at Swimply.

Our mertail shaped monofins fit children's shoe size up to size 9. For larger sizes we have fantail shaped monofins (as used at Remo & Kelly Jade's Finswimming Academy).

*Before starting merswimming training all swimmers must be confident swimmers. Swimming lessons are available with Remo & Kelly Jade's Swimming Academy.

Merswimming Benefits:

Merswimming releases endorphins, promote regulated breathing, and increase blood flow to the brain, all of which help reduce stress and promote a sense of calm.

The "Blue Mind" Effect:
Being in or around water can create a state of calm, peace, and relaxation, a concept known as the "blue mind".

Imaginative Play:
Merswimming encourages creative and imaginative play, which can be therapeutic and provide an escape from daily stress, bringing joy and a sense of lightness.

Confidence Boost:
Learning the graceful movements of merswimming and expressing oneself through movement in a monofin can significantly increase self-confidence and body positivity.

Mindfulness and Presence:
The focus on merswimming techniques and being present in the moment in the water leaves little space for worries and anxiety, helping to calm the nervous system.

The MerClub community often fosters mutual support, particularly for those dealing with anxiety, creating a supportive environment for personal growth and a sense of purpose.

Low-Impact Exercise:
The physical nature of merswimming is low-impact, making it gentle on the joints while providing a full-body workout that strengthens the core and improves flexibility.

Merswimming Training Levels:

Training is for use in swimming pools only, not for open water swimming.

Merswimming Beginner Training:

Train to swim using a monofin.

Merswimming Intermediate Training:

Train to do forward flips, back flips & spins with a monofin.

Merswimming Advanced Training:

Train to do hoop racing & treasure hunting.

Merswimming Elite Training:

Train with a monofin & tail.

Conditions of Hire:

Full payment must be made before booking date & time is finalised. If we are not able to provide an instructor for your booked time you may receive a refund for that training session or the equivalent amount off your next booking. No refund if you are late to a booking or if you cancel within 48 hours. Refund due to a storm is at the instructor’s discretion on the day close to the time of the booking.

Only our qualified Merswimming instructors may give instruction to merswimmers (no exceptions!).

Children under the age of 10 years must have a responsible adult within the vicinity of the pool area. Responsible includes not being under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs.

Smoking (including vaping) & illegal drugs must never be used near or around our staff.

All animals including harmless pets must be kept away from our staff (as some of our staff are allergic to different animals).

Keeping a safe distance from swimmers is essential. There must be enough space between swimmers & objects in the pool to avoid any injuries.

Payment:

Pay with Paypal or direct deposit into our bank account.

Storm Policy:

If our instructors think there is a threat of danger due to a storm they are required to cancel the lesson. The instructor & client must leave the pool (indoor or out), and seek dry shelter. Do not use bathrooms when there is a storm.

*All of our staff have their swimming teacher licence, insurance, current working with children blue card, first aid & CPR training. Training is for use in swimming pools only, not for open water swimming. Our rates do not include entry fee into public swimming pool.
