Belt Grades

Junior Belt Student Levels

1. White Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

2. Provisional Yellow Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading. On competion of this grading women 18+ may also start the Shield Maidens Instructor program.

3. Yellow Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

4. Provisional Green Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

5. Green Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

6. Provisional Blue Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

Senior Belt Student Levels

1. Blue Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

2. Provisional Red Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

3. Red Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

4. Provisional Black Belt: Minimum of 24 (1 hour) private lessons or 24 (2 hour) workshops. Followed by grading.

Black Belt Student / Sensei Levels

1. Black Belt 1st Dan: Minimum of 1 year before grading.

2. Black Belt 2nd Dan: Minimum of 2 years before grading.

3. Black Belt 3rd Dan: Minimum of 3 years before grading.

4. Black Belt 4th Dan: Minimum of 4 years before grading.

Master Levels

1. Black Belt 5th Dan Master: Minimum of 5 years before grading.

2. Black Belt 6th Dan Master: Minimum of 6 years before grading.

3. Black Belt 7th Dan Master: Minimum of 7 years before grading.

4. Black Belt 8th Dan Master: Minimum of 8 years before grading.

5. Black Belt 9th Dan Master.

Grandmaster Level

Title given to the highest grade sensei.


Conditions of Entry: 


*All of our staff have a current working with children blue card, first aid & CPR training. Our instructors may sometimes be assisted by an assistant instructor.
